Hifidelics and Rails Rumble
Filed under business, site news, technology
Well, the Rails Rumble ended this past Sunday evening where our new venture, Hifidelics, was built. Unfortunately, we could not finish in time for it to be complete within the 48 hour time period. I could write another full post explaining why it wasn’t finished, but let’s just say a key member to the team decided to drop-out at the last minute, and were were left to pick up the pieces in a short period of time. So Hifidelics is a little rough right now, since we can not make any changes until the RailsRumble voting is finished, but it IS live.
We’re getting a lot of mixed judging scores, mainly because it’s incomplete; however they did make some positive comments about the bands who were gracious enough to help us out. As one judge pointed out, “[Hifidelics] is incredibly useful – in fact it introduced me to a couple of new bands that I’m going to keep my eye on…” So I’d like to thank the artists very much for supplying us with their content for the Rumble. I’ll post all the participating artists’ links at the bottom of this post, or if you want to get wild and crazy you can check them out on Hifidelics. Again, please keep in mind that it is currently incomplete.
Being a part of the Rails Rumble was pretty cool. This was my first time participating in an event, like this; and I would probably do it again if I get the chance. Yes, the hours are grueling but it’s when it’s all over you feel surprisingly good. Maybe it was the massive amounts of caffeine I ingested, or maybe it was just being so overly tired I didn’t know what I was feeling; but overall I enjoyed it. I’m sure I would have enjoyed even more had I been an actual programmer or web designer. I was more-or-less the guy holding it all together, but I did participate in the design/layout to some degree.
In the coming weeks we are going to be cleaning up Hifidelics and getting things up to par. I was hoping for an official beta launch by the beginning of November, but I’m not sure if that will work out quite yet. I will know more about the schedule once the Rumble judging has ended. I will definitely keep you posted, and please – any feedback on Hifidelics you can give us would be greatly appreciated.
A special thank you to the Rumble team:
Jaime Bellmyer
Wes Garrison
Ethan Peterson
And a big, wet smooch to all the fantastic bands who helped us out(in no particular order):
Khaos Theory
Vanity Theft
King Fantastic
Doc Illingsworth
Ryan Michaels Band
Tear Drop City
The Real Nasty
Rad Omen
Stathakula
